Rohlf Jewell is an attorney at Jackson Gilmour & Dobbs, PC in Houston, Texas. Mr. Jewell has represented the State of Louisiana and the Louisiana Oil Spill Coordinator's Office as part of a team in connection with the natural resource damages and economic losses arising from the Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill in the Gulf of Mexico.
Mr. Jewell has represented the State of New Jersey as part of a team in pursuing remediation costs, economic damages, and natural resource damages associated with the dioxin contamination of the Passaic River and Newark Bay.
Mr. Jewell has represented a transportation company in environmental cleanup and cost recovery matters pursuant to federal and state environmental laws and tort laws in Texas and Louisiana.
Mr. Jewell has represented clients in toxic tort, product liability and personal injury litigation in Texas and Louisiana.
Mr. Jewell also has experience in criminal matters including felony and misdemeanor prosecutions, and appellate proceedings; jury trials, judge trials, grand jury proceedings, and civil RICO; criminal investigations and search warrants; working with expert witnesses regarding scientific evidence, DNA evidence; fingerprinting and chemical analysis and signatures.
Professional Background
Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Jewell practiced in civil litigation at Dunn, Kacal, Adams, Pappas, and Law in Houston, and its successor, Kacal, Adams and Law; and in private practice in Louisiana. Mr. Jewell is also a former Assistant District Attorney for the Eighteenth Judicial District of Louisiana including West Baton Rouge, Iberville and Pointe Coupee Parishes, where he served as a felony and appellate prosecutor and as counsel to local governmental entities.
Mr. Jewell received his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Louisiana State University in 1988, his Masters of Business Administration from the University of New Orleans in 1994, and his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law, New Orleans in 1998.
